About the Recipe

Chettinad Chicken is Spicy, full of flavors, and hearty, Chicken Chettinad is a delicious chicken curry from the Chettinad region of South India. It can be made dry or with gravy. The Chettinad region of the South Indian state Tamil Nadu, is known for its distinctly aromatic and spicy style cuisine.

Ingredients

For Marinating:

  • 500g curry cut chicken

  • 1 tspSPICEBAY® Turmeric powder


  • 2 tbsp Lemon juice


  • Salt as per taste



For Curry:

      

  • 2 large Onion sliced thinly


  • 3 medium chopped tomatoes


  • 1/4 cup fresh grated coconut


  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste


  • Handful curry leaves


  • 3 tbsp Oil

     

  • 3 tbsp coriander leaves


  • 4 tbsp SPICEBAY® Chettinad Chicken masala


Preparation

Step 1


Add salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice to chicken and mix well. Let it marinate for 15 to 20 mins.


Step 2


In a kadai add in coconut and roast till the coconut turns light golden. Add 4 tbsp of SPICEBAY® Chettinad Chicken masala


Step 3


Remove them to a mixer and grind them to a smooth paste.


Step 4


Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add in onions and saute till it turns soft.


Step 5


Add in curry leaves and ginger garlic paste. Saute for a min.


Step 6


Add in cubed tomatoes and mix well Now add the Chettinad masala paste and stir to combine, till the masala takes deep brown color and nicely roasted.


Step 7


At this stage add the marinated chicken pieces, salt and stir coat the chicken pieces with the spice mixture.


Step 8


Cover the cooker and cook it for 2 whistle, simmer for 10 mins. Switch of the heat and let the steam go by itself. Add in the coriander leaves and serve.
